Rangoli Kolam is considered auspicious as it signifies the wealth and prosperity of the house and the family that belong there. Sometimes it is considered as the repellent for the evil forces to try enter the home. It gives a positive energy.
Rangoli is the free form of art drawn in the entrance floors. It may be drawn using limestone powder which is normally called as kolapodi(Tamil)or rangoli powder in general. some times on special occasions they are also drawn using Rice flour.
Simple vilakku padi kolam
This is a very simple kolam even beginner can try.
I have made using 2 lines and given a color for the space inside you can also fill with pattern if you wish. This type of kolam are preferred mainly on Fridays .
