Rangoli Kolam is considered auspicious as it signifies the wealth and prosperity of the house and the family that belong there. Sometimes it is considered as the repellent for the evil forces to try enter the home. It gives a positive energy.
Rangoli is the free form of art drawn in the entrance floors. It may be drawn using limestone powder which is normally called as kolapodi(Tamil)or rangoli powder in general. some times on special occasions they are also drawn using Rice flour.
Vilakku kolangal
This is the simple design vilakku kolam I made using 5x3 interlaced dots. I used a simple vilakku and a red color to draw the outline. I have used white rangoli powder and red color rangoli powder to make it look better. I have placed candles in the design which adds a more elegant look to the rangoli. as I was saying earlier this type of rangoli is well suitable for apartment floors since they fit the small floors and also make the entrance look beautiful.
