Rangoli Kolam is considered auspicious as it signifies the wealth and prosperity of the house and the family that belong there. Sometimes it is considered as the repellent for the evil forces to try enter the home. It gives a positive energy.
Rangoli is the free form of art drawn in the entrance floors. It may be drawn using limestone powder which is normally called as kolapodi(Tamil)or rangoli powder in general. some times on special occasions they are also drawn using Rice flour.
Vilakku rangoli kolam
Simple vilakku kolam design for Karthigai deepam. This kolam is always a special kolam to me as this was the first kolam I made for Diwali in north India where Diwali is celebrated as the festival of lights.
